Nail treatment in Dodoma
Thick, yellow, lifting, painful or ingrown nails have a cause, and most can be returned to healthy nails with the right diagnosis and, where needed, a small procedure.

Healthy nails, lasting relief
Nail fungus is tested before it is treated, psoriasis and eczema of the nail are recognised, and ingrown nails get a definitive procedure rather than repeated cutting.
How it works here

What is nail conditions?
Nails change with fungal infection, psoriasis, eczema, injury, tight shoes and some general illnesses. A thick yellow nail is often fungal, but not always, which is why testing comes first.
An ingrown toenail happens when the nail edge grows into the skin beside it, usually from cutting the corners or tight footwear. It becomes painful and infected and rarely settles on its own once established.
Why treat it
Medical reasons
Nail infections spread to other nails and to the skin, ingrown nails get repeatedly infected, and some nail changes signal conditions elsewhere that need attention.
The process
From assessment to results
Examination of all the nails and the surrounding skin, with a clipping sent for fungal testing when needed.
Depending on the cause:
- Antifungal tablets or lacquer for confirmed fungus
- Treatment of nail psoriasis or eczema
- A minor procedure for an ingrown nail, under local anaesthetic
- Footwear and nail-care advice
An ingrown nail procedure takes about thirty minutes, with a dressing for a week or two. Fungal nails take six to twelve months to grow out clear.
A healthy nail, and for ingrown nails a permanent solution where the troublesome edge is removed.

Who treats you
Your dermatologist
Is the ingrown nail procedure painful?
The toe is numbed first. You feel pressure, not pain, and can walk out afterwards in open footwear.
Can I just cut the ingrown corner myself?
Please do not. It usually makes the next regrowth worse and introduces infection.
Do you test before treating fungus?
Yes. Months of tablets for a nail that is not fungal is a waste, and the test takes a few days.
Will the nail look normal again?
Usually, once the healthy nail has grown through. Nails damaged by old injury may keep a ridge.
Can this be seen by video?
For advice, yes. Testing and procedures are in person.
