Fungal skin infection treatment in Dodoma
Itchy rings, scaly feet, patchy scalp or thick nails: fungal infections are common, spread easily and respond very well to the right treatment.

Confirm it, clear it, stop it coming back
Many rashes that look like fungus are not, and the wrong cream makes them worse. A quick skin scraping confirms the diagnosis before treatment starts.

What is fungal skin infections?
Fungi live on the dead outer layer of skin, hair and nails. Ringworm on the body, athlete’s foot, jock itch and scalp ringworm in children are all the same family of infection.
Warmth, sweat, shared towels and tight shoes help them spread. Steroid creams bought over the counter often hide the rash while the infection grows.
Why treat it
Medical reasons
Untreated infections spread to other people and to the nails and scalp, where they are much harder to clear. Scalp ringworm in children can cause permanent hair loss if left.
The process
From assessment to results
Examination, and a skin scraping or nail clipping looked at under the microscope or sent for culture when needed.
Depending on the site:
- Antifungal creams for skin
- Tablets for scalp, nails and widespread infection
- Advice for shoes, towels and family members
Skin infections clear in two to four weeks. Nails take months, as the healthy nail has to grow out.
Clear skin and simple habits that stop re-infection. A review confirms the nail or scalp has cleared completely.

Who treats you
Your dermatologist
Can I catch it from someone else?
Yes, through skin contact, towels, combs and floors. Treating the whole household is sometimes needed.
Why did the cream from the pharmacy not work?
Often because the rash was not fungal, or because the cream contained a steroid that hid the rash while the fungus spread.
Do nail infections need tablets?
Usually, yes. Creams rarely reach deep enough into the nail. A blood test may be done before a long course.
Can it be treated by video?
Simple skin infections, often yes. Scalp and nail infections need an examination and a sample.
How do I stop it returning?
Dry between the toes, change socks daily, air shoes, do not share towels, and finish the full course.
